Propagation of Very-high-energy γ-Rays from Distant Blazars

Abstract We rederive the possible dependence of redshift with a very-high-energy (VHE) γ -ray photon index. The results suggest that universe to VHE -rays is becoming more transparent than expected. introduce extragalactic background light (EBL) and axion-like particle (ALP) oscillations explain this phenomenon. concentrate our analysis on 70 blazars up z ≃ 1. Assuming correlation solely result photon-photon absorption photons EBL, deviations between predictions observations, especially at redshifts 0.2 < then discuss implications photon-ALP for spectra blazars. Strong evidence shows (1) EBL attenuation show index increases nonlinearly ranges 0.03 (2) oscillation in an attractive characteristic both can influence propagation from distant
